CBCT Advantages and Disadvantages

Advantages of CBCT:

Disadvantages of CBCT:
- Limited contrast resolution
- Emits radiation
- Streaking and motion artifacts are possible
When using CBCT, the benefits far outweigh the risks, especially considering that CBCT aids in early detection of many life-threatening diseases, cancers, and oral issues. Be sure to discuss both the benefits and the risks before considering the use of CBCT for your patients.
CBCT for children
Even children benefit from CBCT as opposed to a traditional CT scan. A CBCT scan is so quick so that children are not forced to sit still for an extended amount of time. A typical CBCT scan takes less than one minute to complete.
